The revised tensioners have been very robust actually, the stretched chains seem to be causing vibration at idle as I think the correction is hitting its limit and the engine is just out of harmonic sync. We do have evidence of stretched chains however hitting part of the timing cover and shaving off some metal fragments and depositing them into your oil and oil filter, so lets straighten that out first. My question is, when I get ready to replace the chain and guides, can I reuse the revised tensioner by setting the clip back? Or should I be getting a new tensioner along with the new revised chain and components as well?Well firstly we have no evidence of stretched chain skipping a link on the revised tensioner. I am monitoring the adaption through VCDS and it seems to be consensus to let it go no higher (lower) than -6 degrees, as this means you're nearly 75% of the way to skipping a link. I've got the revised tensioner but drive somewhat spiritedly (or as I call it, opportunistic driving) and so I've got some stretch. May be a stupid question but I'll ask anyway.
